Birthday in the house

Last week was my birthday, but it was on a Wednesday so we just headed to Famous Dave's for dinner after the storm had calmed down a bit. It wasn't raining when we went in or came out of the restaurant, but as soon as we were heading home it started pouring again! We got a little wet getting in the house. No garage and no overhang at the front door. We didn't melt, though. Lexi handled dinner pretty well. We had fed her before we left. Only thing is that when you are eating ribs and you have a little one with you trading off on the eating would be a good idea. David was trying to give Lexi an Oatio (basically for distraction, we admit) with his pinkies because the rest of his fingers were covered in sauce. It worked out and David took her to change her diaper while I finished eating. Not a bad deal, huh? He does that a lot when we are out, actually. Before getting Lexi in bed I openned the wonderful cards and gifts I had received in the mail - thank you all for making me feel special! And thanks for the phone calls and singing too :).

We had plans to have friends watch Lexi on Friday, but then David had a conflict with work. The new plan was to have Lexi babysat on Sunday afternoon so we could go do something for a few hours, but she was sick. So we stayed home all weekend. David made me birthday cakes. Marbled cake with chocolate frosting. Yummy. He didn't know about stacking the layers so I had two cakes - one from Lexi and one from him. Fine with me! Then I got a present from Lexi and from David. When Lexi went down for another nap we had a glass of wine with a movie. It was a very relaxing weekend in spite of Lexi's illness - whatever it was. She is on the recovery road now. This morning there wasn't any fever at all. Hopefully it stays that way!
