Today Lexi laughed! She has done something for awhile that is kind of an inhaling excited noise that we were pretty sure was supposed to be a laugh, but today she did an actual laugh - exhaling type! It was so cute! She had just eaten and she was lying on my lap. She was smiling and I was kind of tickling her under her chin, smiling and laughing - and there it came! She is such a sweet, happy girl!
Lexi has been such a wonderful little helper this week. We have been running lots of errands and she has done really well with it. Mommy is getting tired of taking that carrier (with her in it) in and out of the car. She is getting HEAVY!
Tomorrow we will be celebrating our first Christmas as a little family here at home before heading to celebrate with the Teske's and the Millen's. Yay! Daddy is on vacation!

First Christmas Photo Shoot
Yesterday after church some friends of ours joined us for lunch and hanging out at our house. We roped them into taking some pics of us in front of our tree. They did a great job taking photos AND jumping around dangling toys to get Lexi (& David's) attention. Below are a couple samples. There are more in the album. We can't wait to celebrate Lexi's first Christmas. We made a hand print ornament last night, too. We will have to take a photo of that when it's dry.
Rolling over
Friday was a big day for Lexi - she had some happy tummy time! She was able to keep her arms under her and she was really enjoying it. Then she just rolled over! She is so amazing - how she is babbling and talking, reaching for things and grabbing them, waking up happy and chatty in the morning. We can't believe how she is changing. Alexa loves it when we sing Christmas songs to her, too. It's a great distraction some times :) More photos are in the album.

Finding feet!
Whenever we change Lexi's diaper she pulls her legs up, but she never really seemed to notice them. Today she touched her toes with her hands before she put her legs back down! I think she is finding her feet. She has really been trying hard to mimic sounds we make to her, too! So fun!

Alexa turns 3(months)!
We are a few days late on this - it was actually on Wednesday. We can't believe it has been 3 months! Alexa is just growing and changing and getting more interactive every day. We can't believe what a little BIG blessing she is to us.
She smiles - a lot - and it's so great because we can see it coming in her eyes!
She does love her daddy - and she really likes talking to the elephant.
She REALLY likes sucking on her two fingers, and sometimes her thumb. We were trying to give her a pacifier instead - nope!

Alexa's Big Trip and other stories
Well, it's been a long time, hasn't it? We have been busy having a great time! Alexa got to take her first plane ride to the midwest. David had work in Omaha, so Lexi and I joined him on his trip. We got to visit friends and family. Alexa got to meet her aunts, uncles and cousins - and of course see her grandparents again. She also got to meet our friends little boys who were born close to the same time. She handled being in new places and traveling very well. She is our little trooper! D wants to get her a shirt that says "Our Little Trooper."
We got to celebrate early Thanksgiving with each of our sides of the family. Lexi also got to meet my grandma. All her adoring fans were thrilled to see her. We also were excited to have Alexa baptised at the church at which I grew up and D and I were married. We don't have photos of that yet, though. Other people were behind their cameras so we will have to get those. When we returned Lexi was actually going to bed at a decent time for a few days, but that is gone now. We are working on getting it back! All in all it was a great trip.
Then Uncle Todd came to visit. He was here over Thankgiving and helped me make my first Thanksgiving dinner - well, he made most of it, but I helped with the turkey and I made the pies! :) Lexi had some wonderful daddy time so Todd and I could cook and daddy still was able to contribute the stuffing. We also went on our first geocache outings. The first one was to a large tree not far from our house. We also did some others around town and in wine country after wine tasting. Todd started this up recently so we joined him. It was fun and a great way to get outside. People are pretty tricky with their hiding. We are thinking we will try to do this on our own on the weekends!
Now I have lost my voice and Lexi is congested so we are just working on recovering. Hopefully we will get some decorations up this weekend - here comes Christmas our favorite time of year!

Fall in Wine Country
Today we headed to wine country. Friends told us that the colors were changing and it was beautiful, so we thought we would take a look. Also, we hadn't gone wine tasting yet since we moved here. We packed up Lexi and headed out of town. First a drive thru Starbucks. They got our order wrong so they made a correction and gave us the mistake on the house. Good thing because we drove away before tasting the "correction" - it was horrible! Then to fill up with gas at Costco - a ridiculous line but it turned out to be much cheaper. We threw out the horrible Starbucks and stuck with the mistake that tasted really good!
Then we were on the road. We had a picnic lunch in the car and Lexi slept the whole way.

We tried a bottle for the first time and she looked at me like "What is this?!" So then we tried the traditional method. That was fine for a few minutes - then the crying started. Poor little pumpkin was so sad and uncomfortable! The gas was really hurting her. She cried and cried. We went to the car after much patting on the back and walking. She finally burped a few times and fell asleep. She wore herself out! So we went back in to finish our tasting and the nice lady gave us extra samples! She thought we needed it :) Then we took in some views before heading out. We stopped at The Boon Fly Cafe which we enjoyed for breakfast once before with a visiting friend. This time we enjoyed dinner together. What a great day. Now we just have to get Lexi to bed so we can rest!

I'm 2 months old!
Alexa was 2 months old yesterday. We didn't do a whole lot this weekend because mommy has a cold :( We did head downtown in our ville and go to a yummy bakery and dinner on Saturday afternoon. We liked the bakery - probably won't go to the restaurant again.

11 pounds 12 ounces and 4 shots
Today was Alexa's 2 month check up - she is officially 2 months old on Sunday which is unbelievable! As always, mommy is concerned wondering if she is getting enough to eat. Well, today Lexi weighed in at 11 lbs. 12 oz. and had grown 1/2 an inch in length and her head got a little bigger around too! She is doing very well. We are so blessed. Then came the shots...
The doctor gave Alexa 4 shots today - 2 in each little chunky thigh. Poor little sweet pumpkin was VERY sad. I heard a high pitched cry of pain I haven't ever heard before. She was still quite sad after the fact - calming and then crying. When the doctor looked at Lexi when she was not crying she immediately started crying again. She was like, you are the one that did this to me! Lexi dozed off in her car seat (I gave her Tylenol before the appointment per a fellow mommy's advice) and when she woke up she was smiling and kicking. Seemed very happy. When she got tired she started to sound uncomfortable again so I gave her a little more Tylenol. It's difficult to hold her without putting pressure on the shot spots. She does have cute little pink flowery Barbie (c) band aids :) So girly.

Our weekend...
This past weekend we had our first day trip with Lexi. We headed to San Jose - which is about an hour and half drive from where we live - to see the Body Worlds II exhibit at The Tech Museum. We heard about Body Worlds a couple years ago. They have 3 different travelling exhibits and we were waiting for it to be somewhere close enough to go see it. Photographs aren't allowed so we don't have any from the trip, but Lexi did pretty well. She did decide she was VERY hungry in the middle of the display so I got to feed her in the small bathroom off the exhibit hall, sitting on a dirty chair in front of the door so that everyone walking into the bathroom got to say hello to me - I was like a greeter. Then no diaper changing facilities so we made due on the counter between two sinks. I'm just thinking of all the places that have gross bathrooms and wondering where I'm going to change a diaper in a gross bathroom. Ugh! Guess we will figure it out. Anyway, then Lexi was happy and cooing and smiling at me. I walked out into the exhibition hall again and she started crying. The security guard walked up and said she might be cold. David and I looked at eachother - we felt like such dopes! It was really cold in there! Why didn't we think of that? It had been cold the whole time and she was fine earlier, but she was the in Baby Bjorn with David's body heat. We put a sweet pink stocking cap on her and wrapped her in the blanket. She went through the rest of the exhibit facing outward and taking it all in. She even cooed at a display or two. And of course she got a lot of admiring looks from fellow attenders. She was such a trooper. We definitely enjoyed the display, but learned we will have to adjust to what it's like to go through an exhibit not being able to look at everything and read everything quite the way we did before. We saw enough - it was definitely worth it.

The mobile
Lexi enjoys her new mobile - the first time we showed it to her she tracked it with her eyes for the entire 15 minutes that it runs! We have a video, but we haven't reached that level yet. Soon we will figure it out and get some videos up for all to enjoy.
Uncles are great!
Last week we had a quick visit from David's Uncle John - so Alexa's Great Uncle John. He was taking a rest at our house overnight between long flights. It was so wonderful to get to visit with him. This is the second time that living where we live in Cali has allowed our house to be a resting place for Uncle John. Earlier in the year Aunt Priscilla was able to join as well. They live in Hawaii so visits with them aren't to common. We had a great dinner together and he got to meet Alexa - he even did a little walking and bouncing with her.

My brother - Alexa's uncle - Todd was on the coast for business and was able to extend his stay overnight so he could come see us. So fun! Even was on duty in the morning so I could take a shower.

A new toy and a bath
Lexi is currently staring at something quite interesting to her - she must be staring at the empty shelf on the desk as she sits in her bouncy seat. Lexi and I just had a cooing conversation - that made my morning! Especially after the last two evenings where she decided to cry A LOT. Mommy and daddy were feeling a little frazzled and we are hoping this doesn't go on for a while as we know it could.
Saturday D worked in the morning, but he was home by noon so we could head to the next town to get his tires rotated. While we waited, we went to BabiesRUs and purchased an activity mat, or floor gym, or whatever they want to call it. See the photo below of Lexi trying it out on Sunday. We also purchased a mobile that will be fun to try out, but it's still in the box. Then Saturday night we got a movie on OnDemand on our cable (meaning we purchased it - like renting it, but it's right there on the TV for 24 hours) and what do you know? Lexi started crying. Sunday evening we frantically watched it before our time ran out. We had minutes to spare after returning from our Target outing. It has been quite chilly in the house at night, but we don't want to turn on the heat yet...so we went to get a space heater so our little one isn't so chilly! Her little nose was cold the other night :(

Ok, I'm back. Now she is sleeping in the swing so now I can finish and upload the photos - then hopefully get a quick nap! D took some great pictures of Lexi during her bath last night. We are blessed - she seems to enjoy the bath or at least be intrigued by it. She is very calm. Check the album for more photos.
