Ode to my prince, second edition

This post is one of the reasons no other posts have been made. I had to post about this before I could move on. Now, hopefully I can move on and start talking about Lexi again, the one you really want to hear about. By looking at this blog you would think we and she did nothing for the last two months, but I assure you that isn't the case. On to the post.

------------

It started out as any other Saturday could. The Saturday after my birthday (June 6, yes I know that was a long time ago). We were poking around at home and decided to head out to a local park for playing and a picnic lunch.

I had plans to go shoe (flip flop) shopping at the mall with my friend Jess later that day. I was disappointed because she we had to go later than I had hoped. I wanted to go during nap time, but she couldn't go until 4 or 4:30 pm. Ok, fine. It was her idea any way. I'll take it.

Jess and I - she got me out of the house!

Off we go to the mall. Lexi is napping. Maybe David can get a little work done before she wakes up?

Earlier that day, Jess had gone to get a new phone. She was very excited about her gadget so as we were at the mall there was a lot of messing with said phone. She isn't one to be constantly texting/calling people when she is with you, but I knew she was excited so I didn't say anything. She said they were going to her in-laws for a cook out so we had to get going.

So we get in the car and head back to the house. A neighbor must be having a graduation party down the street, I think. There are quite a few cars parked past our house. Jess starts to get out of the car with me. "Oh, I'm not coming in!" she says with a laugh. I told her "well, you can, but your mother-in-law might get mad!"

David and Lexi met me outside and David told me to come inside so we could eat. I thought, he already heated up the leftovers? How did he know when I would be home?

I walk in the door. I see a few faces in the doorway to our family room and I hear

SURPRISE!

(this is turning into the worlds longest post, sorry)

I was completely stunned! I was so surprised, I couldn't believe it all night. David had thrown a surprise birthday party for me! And as I walked in the house I saw more people. Many of the mom's from the group Lexi and I do things with, along with their husbands and children were here. Also, our neighbor friends next door and some friends from back in Alexandria had driven up for the surprise. And everyone had pitched in to make it happen.

The happy family. Definitely would have done my hair, had I known :).

There were some little ones who really wanted to help me!

Apparently, Jess's husband, Adam, and their son, Chase, had shown up minutes after Jess picked me up, around 4:30 pm. Adam began making wings and David left for a whirlwind trip to the grocery store and liquor store (in MD you have to go the liquor store to buy beer). Lexi was still sleeping so when she woke up Adam got her and she ran around with Chase. David got back and soon after our friends from Alexandria arrived. They helped get all the food set up, grilled, took care of Lexi, etc. The other guests arrived with other food items and there you go! David set up a surprise party in 2 hours! Of course, it was planned to happen a couple weeks before, but he pulled it off!

It was a great day to unveil the kitchen (another craigslist find!) - the kids enjoyed it!

It was so great, I felt so special, and no, he has never done this for me before. This is a birthday I will never forget!

To be quite honest, I am surprised you didn't say anything about the phone... I annoyed myself! Trying to be sneaky with a new gadget = epic fail! At least we got you... that was the one thing I wanted to accomplish!
