Ode to my prince

This is my husband and I love him so very much.

He decided to spoil me by choosing to marry me and spend forever with me. And the last two weeks he decided to go over the top. My birthday was June 4. I turned 29. You wouldn't expect anything special for 29. Maybe you would, but I didn't.

About two weeks ago he began dropping hints, with some time in between (hours to days).
"Don't make any plans for Saturday afternoon."
"Ok." I said.
"Don't make any plans for Saturday evening."
"Ok." I said.
"Don't make any plans for Saturday night."
"You already said that," I said.
"No, I said Saturday evening."
"Oh. Ok." I said. I was thinking, ok he knew that he said night, not evening. Hmmmm.
"Don't make any plans for Sunday morning either."
"Ok. Do I need to find a babysitter? Do I need to pack?" I said.
"Maybe."
I didn't know what we were doing or where we were going until our printer decided to spontaneously start printing on the Friday before we left. I saw the name of the place and read no further. I didn't want to spoil anything else!

Fast forward to Saturday, May 30 (a week back from this past Saturday). We were dropping Lexi off to stay with our good friends, Adam, Jess & Chase, which David lined up by the way. And after taking Jess through all the things she needed to know and the bag of way more things than she needed to take care of Lexi, we were off. Off into this weird, relaxed 24 hours not bound by naps, hunger or other needs of our sweet girl. I think it ended up being the most refreshing 24 hours we have had as a couple - not as parents - for a long time.

We headed out even minutes earlier than planned and stopped off at a cute side of the road shop - "Cool Olde Stuff." They happened to be grilling hot dogs and they were free, plus there were drinks and cookies, free as well. We ate, browsed, found a few things to ponder purchasing and headed back out on the road. David said we needed to get going. We stopped off in a town along the way and found a place to have lunch. That is where the photo above was taken. Then we browsed an antique mall David had seen in his online searching before getting back on the road. We arrived at a quiet bed & breakfast, The Cascade Inn in Cascade, MD. This was the best part of our room. A peaceful porch attached.

The massage therapist! arrived shortly after we did and we enjoyed massages before heading out to a winery for tasting and dinner at historic Fairfield Inn, continuously operating in some capacity since the late 1700s. It was a wonderful dinner in a historic place along the Confederate withdrawal from Gettysburg. We concluded the evening with a stop at a lodge David had found in his internet search so we could see what it was like and the view from there.

Sunday morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the b&b, of course. I just have to add that the french toast was made using a homemade cinnamon raisin bread and vanilla bean ice cream with some kind of orange liquor. Oh my.

We were told about another winery in the area with an amazing view so we drove there on our way home to check it out. Here we are enjoying the view. It was a fabulous 24 hours.
