Time really DOES fly by

Alexa is going to be a year and a half old tomorrow. I can't believe it's been that long since we first held her in our arms and heard her little tiny cry as we welcomed her to the world. And now look at her! A friend snapped this today at a fun play date.

So what's new with our little getting bigger Lexi? Demanding to do things herself - which can make meal time amusing, an accomplishment, or quite frustrating. With the right foods she is getting the fork figured out pretty well and if it's sticky she can get the spoon sometimes too. She had couscous for the first time and kept trying to eat it with her fingers! That went everywhere! She enjoys family dance time. When the music is on she pretty much walks in different sized circles and varied speeds with a big smile on her face. Or she stands in one spot and bounces her knees. She goes backwards down the stairs, with close supervision, but sometimes tries to move more on the small space of one stair than it allows. She likes to flip through the pages of a book sitting on one of the kitchen rugs, pointing at the pictures, or laying on her tummy kicking her legs behind her, pointing at the pictures. She likes to carry around her little metal box for her felt tea bags and cookies, opening and closing it and leaving it directly in the middle of any walk way :). And she likes to try to talk. She is trying to say so many new words. The silly girl doesn't say things like ball and dog, but she says pizza pizza pizza and dishes! She does pant for dog and she said ball the other day, but the others came first! She also says mama and dada, buzz buzz, baa baa baa, book(s), Chase, home. She also has signs for more, all done, milk, eat, water, gently, please, thank you, down, bird, pray, i love you and she made one up for finger food. That's all we can think of right now. She is so much fun! Happy 1 1/2 sweet!

I love reading your blog posts. I hope you print some of them off and keep them for Lexi to read someday. She'll always have notes to know how much mommy and daddy love her (as if she'll need any reminders). Hope you are well!
