Stinky umbilical cord

A few days ago there was this really unfortunate odor coming from Alexa. Kari is the one with the sensitive nose and she picked up the odor. No, it wasn't a dirty diaper - it was her umbilical cord! No one told us it would be stinky while it dried up. Kari called the doctor and they said, "Oh, yeah, it gets really stinky before it falls off. It means it should come off soon!" Alexa is so sweet and precious - and then there was the smell. Today it fell off! YAY! Kari's parents don't remember the umbilical cord being stinky. Maybe that's the difference between the old way - putting alcohol on it every day - and the new way - letting it dry up on its own. Apparently it takes about the same amount of time, but they said to leave it alone. Anyway, little victories.

Yay, for no more stinky! Ha, ha, ha...

Hmmm...there must be different schools of thought on the cleaning of the umbilical cord. We were told to use alcohol to clean it. However, I know one of my other sister-in-law's were told not to, too. How weird!

Regardless, glad you have a smooth tummy Lexi! Now you can wear pants!
