Finally, thanking YouTube

Had a great day today with Lexi and Kari. We went down to Frederick for the Frederick Celtic Festival. We listened to a band for a while, watched bagpipers play as they walked through the people and booths, and tried to keep from getting knocked over. The wind was ridiculous. We braved the wind for a while and watched the athletes throwing the Scottish hammers. Lexi was surprisingly interested in it, asking Kari to unshield her face from the wind enough to watch each throw.

The highlight for Lexi (therefore, for us also) was sitting inside next to the small dance stage watching a couple dance troupes. The first was about 10 middle-age and higher folks who did the Irish dances that were one of the roots of country square dancing (as they explained). The second group, however, was a dozen girls ranging in age from probably 8 to 17 or so. Their dancing seemed to Kari and me like a mix between ballet and tap. That got me thinking about only one man.

After dinner we sat down on the couch for a while, pulled up YouTube, and watched several videos of the late, great Gregory Hines. That was a wonderful way to introduce Lexi to tap dancing. That was a good day.
