See Lexi, holding on like a pro? She just grabbed right on like she thought that was what you were supposed to do!
At the entrance of the zoo we had to take a group shot. See what I mean? It was a crew and there are another 2 adults and 1 child not pictured here.
Lexi woke up that morning a little warm (in the 99. somethings) and fussy so I was a little nervous about the trip. I decided we would drive separately to the Metro station in case we had to bail, which was probably a good thing because she napped in the car on the way. This was completely uncharacteristic for her. We wake her up to get to the airport and she doesn't fall asleep the whole car ride (~1.5 hours) so I knew something was wrong. Armed with the temporal thermometer and some Tylenol we went ahead with it. At the zoo she was really heating up and didn't feel good so I gave her some Tylenol. After that kicked in, she was a lot more comfortable and she enjoyed seeing all the animals. Here she is pointing up at an owl in a tree. She loves birds!
Lexi is observing some small monkeys or apes (can't remember). It made her very happy to get such a great view of so many animals. We had quite a few stroller diaper changes (she also had a bad diaper rash this day) along the way and she didn't eat much, but we made it through just fine and I am so glad that we went anyway.
By the end of the day, she was really wearing down and she fell asleep on the Metro. Doesn't she look awful? I felt bad for her, but resisted feeling bad we went. She had a great time and the zoo is free. We can't wait to go back again!
After the cat nap, she didn't sleep the whole way home in the car! Another dose of Tylenol, snacks and milk and when we got home she went down for an EXTREMELY late, much needed nap. This is our sweetie cuddly with Daddy. And she woke up the next morning just fine and no fever! It was an odd one day thing, I guess.

Oh, Wexi, you wook sad...
(Wexi=Eliza's version)
BTW -- we still talk about Lexi's beans at suppertime.
I can't wait to go back... riding the metro was my favorite part!
I've never seen Lexi's eyes look so miserable. Glad the Tylenol helped and you were able to enjoy the zoo.
What a crew -- you must have attracted a little attention as you worked your way through the zoo.
It looks like you guys had so much fun! I'm jealous. I'm going to the zoo next time whether my mom is here or not!
Now THAT is a playgroup! What a fun group of moms and kiddos on amazing adventures!
Poor kid-glad she had fun! We took Rilyn to the Omaha Zoo for the firs time on Mother's Day-a long day as well, but she loved it. OMG-I cannot believe how much she looks like David in the picture of her asleep in her stroller!! Too cute!
Gorgeous pictures Kari, even sad, sick Alexa.
Quite the cavalcade of stroller-pushin'-mommas you have there.
love from Ames,
