Out to the park & and with the girls

Not this past weekend, but the weekend before it was very nice and we decided to head out to a city park. See a video HERE. This was our first outing like this since living here and we had driven by a city park that looked really great, with lakes and bridges and playgrounds. We found it using our GPS since we couldn't quite remember where we drove by it and it really was a great place. Packed lunch and Lexi in tow we loaded the stroller and headed to see the ducks. Lexi was very excited about the ducks! The greatest thing was they were really active and coming over to the shore so she got a close look. They kept dunking their heads under the water to get food or something so you would see their legs and feet moving at the surface. Also, they were diving under the water completely, coming up and flapping their wings to dry off. A lot of fun to watch!





We also ventured on to the very busy playground equipment. Lexi was nearly the smallest one there, but fortunately there were two different areas in the park with large pieces of equipment. She made her way up the stairs and went down the slide many times. Each time she got to the bottom (assisted with one of us holding an arm or hand) she would turn around and try to climb back up. We did try the swing and she wasn't having it. Lexi was also very excited about the merry-go-round and some little boys graciously let David get on with Lexi if he pushed, but she quickly decided that wasn't for her either. Then we enjoyed a picnic lunch in one of the shelters before heading home for nap time. The big downer of the day was Lexi had this rash on her face starting after breakfast and getting worse while we were out. We think maybe it started from eggs at breakfast, which she doesn't rash from anymore, but maybe she had a little more than usual? And then, we think, the sun was the other issue. Her fair skin hasn't been out in the rays. We will see if we can prevent that from happening next time!





That evening I went out with a group of moms I met through Lexi's gym class. We all met up at The Olive Garden for dinner and then went to Kohl's for the sale! We all joked about a girls night out at Kohl's, but anyone who has kids knows shopping without them is a nice treat! I ended up with a new blender. Very exciting, right? But I had a 15% off and now hopefully there will be less frustration in using the blender. The other one is headed out the door!
