Well, Lexi's 18 month check up was actually over a week ago now, but it's worth blogging about because we really liked the doctor. Every time we move to a new place we don't know any one and have to find a pediatrician, of course, among other things. We were fortunate on our last move to get a recommendation through a family member and it worked out well. When we moved here I just had to pick one and try it out. Well, I didn't really like the one that I tried. Her 15 month check up was unimpressive to say the very least. And I realized when I went over her immunizations after the fact that a combo shot they gave her actually gave her an extra dose of something. Ugh. Not to mention that they didn't talk to me about any developmental milestones at all. Once I met some other moms I heard that it wasn't the best office so I felt I wasn't just a crazy woman.
I decided to try an office in the next town that a neighbor likes. I made Lexi's 18 month appointment and got all her records transferred over in time. The people were really nice! I dropped off part of Lexi's record there the week before her appointment and the reception nurse offered to make me copies just like that and was very sweet to Lexi. The other office had a window you weren't supposed to touch and the person said, "Name?" when they slid it open. Anyway, the doctor was very thorough. She asked a lot of questions and I could tell she really cared about what she was doing. David even got to come this time, which hasn't been an option since the week Lexi was born.
All in all, a very good visit and Lexi is doing great. She stood on a big scale this time! She's getting so big! 23.9 pounds, 32 inches tall and her head continues to be right out of the park at greater than the 97th percentile - go brains! We felt good when we left the office that Lexi was doing well and the doctor even reinforced us a bit, which lets face it is a needed encouragement at times!

I hear you on the doctor. It can be so stressful and annoying. I love Tyler's doctor; I hate mine.
I can't believe how big she's getting-she is so stinkin adorable. I'd hate to look for a new doctor all the time too, so kudos to you! I'm glad you found someone you liked-it does make a world of difference!
I am glad you found a doctor that you like, what a relief!
The top picture of Lexi is so cute, I want YOU to play with me- who could resist those eyes and that smile!
